Welcome back! Finally - two days (Saturday & Sunday) without rain. I couldn't wait to get outside! Perfect, sunny, 75 degree weather.

The soil in the garden spot is very rich, yet kinda "rooty". As easy as it is to turn the soil over, it will take several rakings to remove the root clumps, rocks, etc. At one end, there was also a lot of gravel. I thought I would have to rent a tiller, then I discovered I have this:

Yes - my Son. I gave him the pitchfork while I used the hoe & we were in business. He saved me $65.00 for tiller fees. Plus he really enjoyed us working together & so did I. Another thing that we can do together. He doesn't care what we do, as long as we are together. I am so blessed.

I was really happy to find a ton of mint growing. A neighbor once had a huge herb garden & it looks like some creeped my way! I've never used fresh mint, but apparently now's the time!

Once we worked the dirt, it got to be so soft, we were sinking down into it! By the time it was time to put things in the ground, we were exhausted, so I stuck 3 tomato plants in ground & left the rest. We will get back out there to finish up.... after it stops raining. Sigh...

I went ahead & planted my sunflower seeds, my sister brought by some Hollyhock, Rose of Sharon & Morning Glory seeds & I still have Zinnia seeds to do. I want the garden to be a cross between veggies & flowers, like in the magazines - an 'english garden'. Knowing how I throw things together without a clue as to what I'm doing - the final look should be nothing short of ....interesting! LOL!

I'll keep you posted :-}
