"Solo" (other 1/2 of Romeo). Looks like he's smiling!
Sorry folks - don't wanna gross you out, but this is some of my beautiful compost. Good ole spinach, lettuce, onions & skins. Good stuff :-)
The smell of the rosemary while putting this in the ground was completely intoxicating. Between that & the wild peppermint that's growing, I was nearly high on herbs!
Welcome back, friends!
Man, oh man!! As in true Ohio fashion, the temps went from the 60's right to the 90's!!! This Memorial Day weekend was scorching w/incredible amounts of humidity. It was brutal, but so good to be outside in the dirt.
Got everything into the ground. We did end up renting a tiller and I'm so glad we did. It gave the extra edge needed that my son & I could've never gotten done. The soil is super good back there, rich with huge worms (a good sign), and was so soft, I sank into it as I planted. While we had the tiller (four hour rental), we tilled the front flower bed also. Last year, I planted moon plant (Gabriel's Trumpet) that took over the entire front of my house!!! They're hard to get rid of, so I thought if we tilled, we could start over & control what comes up & get rid of what we don't. It's beautiful, but it needs room. Lots of it.
So for now - we have: tomatoes, sweet yellow peppers, rosemary, cabbage, watermelons, sunflowers (which have grown as long my fingers already - I just planted seeds not 2 weeks ago), & zucchini. And I still have a lot more room left.
Sounds like a good reason to go back to the nursery :-)
